The Importance of Constructivism in Education
The dominant educational pedagogical philosophy for 100 years now in schools of education has been what used to be called progressive education. The basic tenet is that it's better for kids to discover or construct knowledge for themselves than to have a teacher stand up in front of the classroom and just pour facts into their passive receptacles of brains. So, Avi, we'll talk about that later. But so, how do you think we ended up in this place? We're not teaching content, we're overly focused on skills, things aren't developmentally appropriate," he says.
