The Importance of Hydration in Performance
The big lever that moves the hydration needle is acute sweat losses during training sessions and competition. You can be well hydrated one minute and start exercising, and 90 minutes later, two hours later, you can be already really quite severely dehydrated. Hydration is really all about the maintenance of decent blood volume when you are exercising. The heavy sweat losses inpact blood volume, which then impacts performance.
