Self Absorption, Self Rumination, and Mind Wandering
We all have an inner voice or internal thought. It's at first associated with mind wandering, which are thoughts that take our attention away from present time events around us. The bulk of the time extended self related inner chatter is more often linked with unskillful, in fact, harmful outcomes. When they're relied on appropriately, inner chatter can contribute to a positive state, called self reflection.
