The trade desk is trying to get more advertising dollars out of the walled gardens and position something as what they do. They have mastered, in my opinion, the platform for buying for buying ad space. So why would you want to be spending all of your money inside those walled gardens when we can give you a verifiably great experience with our different ads? It's really weird that the way the capital is allocated doesn't match that the way I would have expected.
Viewers may hate them, but ads are the future everywhere we go online. For investors that might be a good thing.
