Intermittent fasting is when you have very little calories on say one or two days a week. Then there's restricted time feeding, where you compress the same amount of food into short hours in the day. Now you can put those two together so that you sort of skip a meal so that you're actually extending it as well. Both of them are working on a similar premise that resting your gut is a good thing to do.
