The Importance of Creating Virtual Environments

When multitracking and stereo become possible you can start creating virtual musical objects that exist in a kind of three d 360 degree sphere around your head. You can give listeners the feeling that there are sounds emerging from inside their skull or somewhere over there. So creating vir a environments becomes part of your job description as a composer.
