Life is a precious commodity because it has an end point, right? There will be a last time. To a 20 year old, what's the value of to day? Soi ane to be thoughtful on how i spend this day. I'm not going to squander it. This day is going to be full of time well spent. The striking thing is, i notice myself becoming less tolerant. And i realize part of that, as i realize time is valuable in a way that it didn't use to be aas a kid. Those seem like negative thoughts, but they can make you appreciate the moments an abilities you have right now.

William Irvine, a professor at Wright State University, thinks, teaches, and writes about philosophy. He is the author of many books and publications including the one he and Eric discuss in this episode, The Stoic Challenge: A Philosopher’s Guide to Becoming Tougher, Calmer, and More Resilient.
