Support is one important way that your understanding how customers are experiencing the product, in what you should be doing differently going forward. And at a more human and personal level, i think it's important for motivating the product work... You need motivation to do hard work. Hearing from individual people about their desires for the product is quite motivating. The reason i build products is, of course, we have ideas we want to express. We're making products that we want to use ourselves, hopefully. But i am doing it to help other people, to serve their needs.
