The Effects of Exercise on Chronic Pain
Exercise can, in fact, reduce the perception of pain. This has been happening for looking at articles from the seventies. It's not as simple as just doing something high intensity and kicking back an waiting for the pain relief that should follow. Rather, it's attributed to recruitment of high threshold muscle,. Basically, we have to get those fast twitch fibres through high intensity. But you can also do it through low intensity with long duration. And this is what apparently increases the level of exercise induced hypoalgesia.
