The evidence is clear as physiotherapists we're very good at responding to cues around structure and around physical diagnosis. We're perhaps not as good at picking up the emotional cues so a classic example is an athlete that will come to me who's seen eight different physiotherapy doctors in their career. By acknowledging those things my chances of getting somebody better increased dramatically, he says. Letting them tell you'll miss a lot of valuable information about the emotive cues that potentially are the barrier to you getting them better.
