When you often hear about insomnia as a sleep disorder, you're not talking about one or two nights of insomnia. The rule of thumb in the clinical world is at least three times a day for at least three months. But newer research has shown that it can be a perpetuating problem much earlier. And more importantly, you can benefit from interventions much earlier than a lot of traditional clinical wisdom would suggest. If you have experienced this kind of steady sleep issue for two weeks, that's when you can start thinking about intervening.
