How to Rule Out IBI and SBI in Infants

When infants are a-fibral at triage, don't assume that they're okay. These infants have the same risk of IBI as infants that remain febrile when we see them. Just remember that fevers are often cyclic. The sensitivity of white blood cell count for SBI is only about 55%. And the last pitfall is assuming that they don't have SBI or IBI if the CRP and ANC are normal.
