How to Avoid Meetings and Phone Calls

I try to avoid as many meetings or phone calls as humanly possible. Paul Graham actually has a great essay about this called Maker versus Manager. I find much like Parkinson's law helps to refine how you prioritize. What are some of the most common mistakes that writers make? And I'm envious in a way of your output, not professionally but just stylistically.
