Is the Average Person's Protein a Loss of Muscle?

Exercise or activity trumps, in my opinion, diet, particularly with respect to body composition and protein. We don't have the money or resources to do the type of studies where we control diet strictly enough to look at the effect of protein on body composition. But from an observational standpoint, older people who consume more protein hang onto more muscle,. They don't progress towards frailty, they fall less - much again to a number of people's chagrins. And so if that means a hierarchy, then I guess I would be supporting that notion.
