It's very easy to think ourselves into stress as the great behavioral psychologist Robert Sapolsky notes. We're thinking repetitive survival based thoughts. People who wear soothing soft fabrics report that it keeps them more in a regulated state. So what we want to do is be able to visualize mental representations of safe soothing appreciative people or places of memories of natural settings open doors floating. These are some of the tools I've used with people and counseling amongst many that help down regulate the tension to think our way back into stress.
