One-on-Ones - What Can a Manager Do?

Keep a running document of things you want to talk about. Come prepared to the one-on-one. I always start out with this question: What's on your mind, what would you like to talk about today? And once I build enough rapport and trust with my direct report, usually they'll open up and there will be things on their mind that they want to discuss.
