How to Extend Your Breath Hold
When you go underwater, your physiology changes right away. Your heart slows down so that you're not using as much oxygen. In your arms and legs, squeeze, partway, shut or almost entirely shot basically trying to shoot blood back to your core. You probably don't realize that this stuff is happening, but it is. And there's other things that are even more subtle, like your spleen. It's mainly a blood filter, but it also keeps a reservoir of red blood cells in it.
