The Effect of Caloric Restrictions on the Function of Mitochondrials

So we discussed earlier today a bit about caloric restriction. The question that I would like to ask you as an expert in exercising mitochondria is what is the effect of a caloric restriction on the mitochondria function specifically in skeletal muscle? Yeah, that's a great question. So one of us really interesting when you study mitochondrial function and caloric restriction in skeletal muscle is that if you think about individuals losing weight and how the body preserves certain tissues over others, mitochondria are one of the things that are highly preserved. In humans, we see that caloric restrictions are a really powerful way to improve insulin sensitivity. And it will improve all of those aspects of insulin sensitivity.
