We're training our mind to do something very important, which is to let go of a thought so that we can pick up another one. So when you deviate your attention from the floss, you are telling your mind to letgo of a particular thought and move to another thought. Do this for like, ten minutes a week, ok? That's how we do it. We rotate our attention between different things.
