The Flywheel Metaphor
A flywheel has a lot of inertia, so it's very difficult to get going in the beginning. If you push on a flywheel, you can get it going very fast, but only through many, many turns. So like I said, with progress, where sort of progress compounds and the more of it we have made, the faster we can make it. And eventually it builds up, and once it gets going, It takes a long time for it to wind down.
