The Pleasure of Mentoring
Mentoring was the last time I felt any reward in life. It's just sort of an image that I have of being with a young person and having them focused on what they're doing. There's something about allowing the best in you to serve the best in others that can't be beat by any other form of reward. A hierarchy that's functioning properly has the central aspect of a benevolent father, which is something like encouragement. And it's certainly not exploitation by power.
