In patients with coma following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest targeted mild hypercapnia did not improve neurological outcomes at six months. There were four unexpected possibly treatment related serious adverse events. Death within six months and the distribution of scores for functional outcome were not statistically different nor was health-related quality of life.
