The Thematic Universe of an Epoch
History itself can be understood in terms of epochs which are thematic rather than static units of time. Freer explains quote, an epoch is characterized by a complex of ideas, concepts, hopes, doubts, values, and challenges striving towards plenitude. These themes imply others which are opposing or even antithetical; they also indicate tasks to be carried out and fulfilled. Education must develop awareness of this thematic universe and its constitutive themes and limits to the people.
