Is Static Stretching a Good Thing?
Stretching is not free lunch in the human body. If you get up out of that stretch and you feel grindy joints, and you feel like something else just tightened up, like you, it's called protective tightness. We didn't need static stretching. We just needed strengthening in it all would have loosened up. The other scenario is positional stuff like muscles. Muscles are prisoner to the joint pos tion. So if my pelvis is in a certain position, and yes, some anterior tilt is totally normal, but we also have study showing that an excessive anterior tilt does lengthen the ham strings.
