In Korea, there's a system where you can borrow money to buy stock in your publicly traded company at a discount. And you repay the loan by giving back to the lender some of the shares that you purchased. That same idea can be applied to all sorts of gig work. In New York and Denver, they're doing just that. They've created apps. Software has been contributed by nonprofits. Once the software is created, the drivers own the app, and the app does what it does for Uber and Lyft,. except that now all the benefits go to the drivers instead of being concentrated in the hands of a smaller number of people.
