A lot of runners struggle with increasing their cadence because, you know, they just end up running faster. The opposite side of taking more steps per minute is taking longer steps. If you're doing heavy squats in the gym, then you're much more likely to have a more powerful stride. That's one of the reasons why weightlifting is able to give you a faster finishing kick.
