The Importance of Standardization in the 1960s

President Kennedy addressed the issue himself in 1962. He said, I don't care what size containers adopted as a standard. If the marketplace can find when that moves cheaper, that is the way the marketplace will dictate it. After 1966, his trucker, ship lines, railroads, container manufacturers and the government's reach compromises on issues after issue.
