The Golden Age of Corinth

Kipsalis was succeeded as tyrant by his son, Perryander, who ruled for 40 years from 627 to 585 BC. Both Kipsalis and Perryander set about exploiting the economic opportunities of Northwest Greece. While his father had concentrated on the west, he broke new ground by sending one of his sons to establish a colony at Patedia. The close ties between the two tyrants is illustrated in Herodotus. Under Perryander's direction, Corinth was the most powerful and prosperous than it had ever been before.
