The Greatest Race in Aviation History

The Woola Rock reached Honolulu in 26 hours and took first prize another plane called the Aloha. The race was initially conceived by Hawaii's governor and the publisher of the Honolulu Star Bulletin who thought it might be good publicity for Hawaii. Eight planes were scheduled to compete two of them crashed during takeoff Two others managed to get airborne but soon turned back with mechanical problems Of the four that remained the pilot of the Woola Rock reach Honolulu in26 hours and take first prize a $25,000 grand prize and a $10,000 prize for second place.
