Using the TM Before Filing a Trademark Application
The TM stands for, hey, I'm claiming a trademark right of some kind. The circled R can only be used once you actually get the registration back from the USPTO. If you use that circled R before you receive the registration, that's actually a violation of federal law. So you don't want to use it before you get the registration.
