There is a growing industry of alchemy. This is sort of very much medieval-ish although not your typical medieval fantasy world. But anyway there are alchemists and alchemy has sort of magical properties. And there are this group of people who are very focused on preserving corpses. Gamopok corpses if you want to call it that is like a negative term, a pejorative term for those people.
