The Four Corners of the Control Box
When we're talking about this control box, you don't want to just stick your arm or leg in the middle of the control box. Then you're opening up arm traps or leg entanglements. And then when you talk about this forty five degree principle, you're saying that ideally you want to have a control point on one side and then a control points on the opposite side of their body such that it cuts a forty five degree angle. So an example would be, like you said, if i'm going for cut pass, i'm cutting over their near side knee, but then i try to get a far side under hook or a far side lapel grip, or something like
