Every waking moment of every day, our nervous system is on alert. At any time that I perceive the possibility of threat, again, I'm really simplifying the nervous system. The way we are wired is to deal with the threat. Our body is mobilizing its energy to deal with whatever the perceived threat is at hand. If you were to even just drop into your body right now and tune into how do your muscles feel? How is your breath? Is it coming from your chest? What about your heart rate? Those are really good pillars to check in with to determine if if your heart rate is quick.
