We produce lactate and we use it all the time. When an athlete is going all out, lactate gets really high because the energy demand of the activity requires rapid glycolysis and glycogenolysis. So as long as you can make it and use it, you're fine. But when it builds up, there's a problem. It's, the problem is the removal.
