Confronting Racism in Health Research

This chapter explores the challenges faced by a CDC employee in addressing racism's impact on health disparities, particularly regarding police homicides. It reveals systemic pushback against uncomfortable truths and highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in leadership roles to foster equitable research. The narrative critiques the culture that suppresses critical findings on racial violence and emphasizes the need for empowering Black scientists within the organization.
