In 1955, there was a symposium which attributed the idea that the brain is a computer and we have this information processing approach. And it wasn't just, the Hixen Symposium wasn't just devoted to understanding how movements are controlled and skills are required. It was really about the brain and behavior more generally. From there then, that's when these ideas started to foment and then a decade or two decades later, these textbooks started to come out which espoused these ideas because governments were interested in taking these ideas forward.
