Stephen King: Central banks now have a range of tasks, a range of objectives. The problem with having multiple objectives is that you then forced into what are effectively political judgments. If you're asking central banks to do it, there's a significant danger that they make the wrong choices or that they end up with compromises which take them away from their primary objective - price stability.
