The Importance of Unilateral Strength Training

Do you still use the box squat in your programming or do you now focus more on unilateral strength with your athletes? I'm asking because a trainer at my gym told me not to do them anymore. He said they will destroy my back and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. Joe: My current view on the box squat is the same as my view was 20 plus years ago. The box squat when taught properly is the easiest and safest way to teach the squat to beginners.
