How to Increase the Capacity in the Gym

You raise the capacity in a number of ways. You increase your mileage gradually and do hills or speed work, whatever your goals are. Cross training can also be used for cardiovascular purposes but you really raise the capacity efficiently with strength training. If you haven't done squats, lunges, deadlifts, calf raises before, if you're very inexperienced, then yes, you would start with body weight. And that's eventually what we want to progress to.
