This chapter explores the drawbacks of relying on internal mental processes in the ecological approach to skill development, emphasizing that it inhibits problem-solving and information sourcing from the environment. It also highlights the issue of coaching not encouraging exploration and self-organization, and introduces the concept of direct learning as a solution to these limitations.
