How did you get to this point? Well, I was working with a basketball team in the early to mid 90s. And they had a lot of patellar tendinopathy. They could find no treatment for it so I went back to the literature and looked at research. Serendipitously my PhD mentor Karam Khan pushed me towards looking at research as well. So I think the combination of having that pressing clinical question plus just pure luck to have a research mentor like that at the same time, I ended up finishing my PhD and then have just gone on from there.
