"I got burnout. And when you get burnout on the physical side of things, it bleeds into the emotional, the mental, all of that," he says. "It wasn't just my body and the nicks and dings. It was all the way down to my nervous system." He left CrossFit after 10 years in order to find out what fitness looked like for the rest of his life. "[CrossFit] becomes so much to play your identity, your community, your daily life ... I couldn't do that for the next 70 years".
