The Cruelest Month
I think you do get used to it. I've lived in Indianapolis for 15 years and just today I was walking through like that sideways freezing rain that we have, you know, where it appears to be coming up from the ground because the wind is so extreme. So- April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land,. mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rain. Winter kept us warm, covering earth in forgetful snow, feeding a little life with dried tubers. Summer surprised us, coming over the Starnsburg- Gerst-Starnsburg-er-see? It's best to- Starnburg-er- see.
