What Causes Sleep Paralysis?
Every culture has a name for this nocturnal perpetrator of sleep paralysis. In scandinavian culture, it's amare, a damned woman and in fiji, it's a demon. Study states that significantly more early life stressers were reported by african americans than caucasians. Higher levels of psycho social stressers, including raceism and aculturation may contribute to the higher rates of sleep paralysis experienced by Afro-Americans.
