Worship in the New Covenant
Worship is a very much we were offering ourselves up as a living sacrifice. In the old testament, they offered sacrifices and the aroma and the smoke was rising to god. And now, in the new covenant, that sort of completey how it works. We are the sacrifice. We offer ourselves up in song. That's how our smoke goes up into heaven. No one is exempt from church music. But if we're choosing our musical idiom in service of a in worship, having the professional soloist, that's putting our hierarchy of priorities upside down.
