The Importance of Empathy
Sonder: We rarely get angrily frustrated simply because it's raining, or a squirrel gnawed at our garbage. When entities that don't have a conscious narrative do things that annoy us, we realize that the annoyance is on us. Sonder: The idea that everyone has a complicated inner life helps us understand that we can't possibly know what the real intent of the person who's annoying us was. It might be easier to just treat them like a rainstorm, treated them like a squirrel, treat them like an inanimate radiator.
