Sally Kohn: Why we culturally lambast speech qualities often heard and maybe invented by young women has really nothing to do with the language qualities themselves. She says when men use language this way or that way, we're not like hyper critical of it because whatever a middle-aged white man does is just by default accepted. When a woman does it, it's criticized, especially a woman of color or a woman of any number of complex intersecting identities she writes about.Kohn: Some of our culture's most oppressed communities also invent language the most creatively.
