We did a systematic review and meta analysis in 2019 looking at exactly that. What's the least one needs to do to get stronger in squat bench or deadlift? The idea was to look at powerlifting research, but there was none. And what we found was that one to three sets performed per exercise per power lift per week for somewhere between six to 12 repetitions could yield significant increases in maximum strength.
