Under eating impacts hormone levels, even if we don't see an obvious shift in the menstrual cycle overall length or even the luteal phase like it tells us. Exercise is good for us to point out that there's no way we can have optimal hormone balance if we are not eating enough food. We should also be looking at what the ultimate goal is for the activities that we're doing right now.
