Dr. Yuchendrup: Why would this be any different for athletes? Because athletes are active, they do exercise, they ingest very large amounts of glucose and some some occasions. So why would it not be unhealthy? And I think one point we already touched on is that as an athlete, you use this carbohydrate as a fuel. There's not a lot of available sugar that could cause any harm.
